Keep New Zealand Beautiful
From their Facebook page - January 2025: Big changes are happening at Keep New Zealand Beautiful, and we couldn’t be more excited for the year ahead! After a challenging 2024, we’re stepping into 2025 with a renewed focus on what matters most: keeping Aotearoa clean and beautiful. After some shuffling behind the scenes, we now have dedicated resources to lead the charge for our 57-year-old brand, to lead our national initiatives, ensuring the spirit of Tidy Kiwis thrives across the country. Together, we’ll tackle the plastics and rubbish threatening our streams, beaches, and parks.

Let’s make 2025 a year of positive change. Join us in keeping NZ beautiful!

Clean Where You Walk
Melissa Lieser opened her Instagram account, 'Clean Where You Walk', in 2018, when she was still living in the United States."I would come home and complain after walking my kids to school about how dirty my neighbourhood was," she said. "My husband said, 'Why don't you just pick it up then?' "I thought, well, that's a great idea, so I started cleaning up once a week on my walk home from dropping my kids off at school and documenting it on social media."

Want to help on a street or beach cleanup?

We are so lucky in the Wellington area that we have many people who are willing to head out and tackle picking up litter and being part of street and/or beach cleanups.

If you are interested in helping out, here are some of the groups in the area.
